In my city 1/2 day Kindergarten in public schools is free. The full day program cost $2,500 per year. This is ridiculus to me when in the next county over full day Kindergarten is free. The area that i live in is an uppity area and I feel ripped off..

    Public school is FREE
File a formal complaint with your state dept of education.
Also write to the superintendent of school and ask for a copy of their written policy that states you have to pay.
There is none, so you can use this to not pay.

I understand how you feel. When my child was in kindergarten I had to pay for the full day too. Some parents did, others felt it was to expensive. Now the school board has decided to make full day kindergarten standard with no extra charge. I do know that you can deduct the cost of full day kindergarten on your taxes if you fall within the income level. The amount they are charging you does seem high to me but it has been over 10 years since my child was in kindergarten. Everything seems to go up in price. You should see if you can get parents together to talk to the school board and see if they can afford to cover full day.

What? I have never heard of a public school system that cost .. I thought that was the whole point of public and private you have the right to choose for payment or not. I would be talking to my head people in charge such as my district council man. That’s blown my mind i can’t belive that. Do you have to provide any thing at the first of the year? We have to provide the school with almost everything, that may be the difference. I am confused now. :)
